Istanbul Esenyurt University Disabled Students Unit Management By the Rector of Istanbul Esenyurt University, under the responsibility of a Vice Rector, to determine the needs of students with disabilities in terms of academic, administrative, physical, psychological accommodation and social areas, to determine what needs to be done to meet these needs, to plan and implement the studies to be done, A unit for students with disabilities is formed to develop and evaluate the results of the studies. Istanbul Esenyurt University Disabled Students Unit carries out all its activities in coordination with the Department of Health, Culture and Sports.
Unit Duties
a) During the education period of the students with disabilities registered to the programs of Istanbul Esenyurt University; education, training, administrative, nutrition, accommodation, scholarship, social and sports activities, meeting their physical needs and identifying and eliminating the obstacles they may encounter and the measures to be taken against them, offering solutions, and providing the necessary arrangements by working in coordination with other units.
b) In order to organize the education programs in a way that does not prevent the academic, physical, psychological and social lives of university students with disabilities, it is necessary to ensure that the education environment of the disabled student is organized, as well as to provide equipment for the disabled, preparation of special course materials, education, research and accommodation environments suitable for the disabled. make decisions about preparation.
c) To carry out broadcasting activities for students and lecturers at the higher education level, to prepare informative documents explaining the disability and disability, its limitations and necessary arrangements, to increase the level of awareness, to provide consultancy services to those concerned, and to provide in-service training when necessary.
d) Developing programs and projects to increase awareness and sensitivity on these issues; To organize conferences, seminars and similar events.
e) To prepare and carry out the work program of the Unit; To prepare the annual budget draft and annual activity report and present it to the vice-rector.
f) In applications that allow “Disabled Students” studying at Istanbul Esenyurt University to express their problems and demands, with similar applications that include publications, documents, posters and information on the subjects that fall within the field of duty and activity of the Higher Education Institutions Disabled Student Unit. find and create a website.
g) To supervise the implementation of the decisions taken and the strategies determined.
h) To work towards the free supply of assistive equipment for disabled students who have financial difficulties.
ı) To ensure that all students are measured and evaluated fairly and accurately, to ensure equal opportunities and to make the education process meaningful for students with disabilities; To take the necessary measures and make arrangements according to the differences arising from the time, place, material, companion and the nature of the disability related to the exam of the disabled student.
i) To prepare a report on the higher education programs where disabled students can study, in order to notify the Student Selection and Placement Center Presidency before the applications for the Higher Education Institutions Selection Examination.
j) To present the annual plan prepared for disabled students of Istanbul Esenyurt University and the results of the previous period as a report to the Rector of Istanbul Esenyurt University at the beginning of each term.
k) To work on the preparation of informative publications on employment opportunities and to take measures to ensure that these are delivered to students with disabilities.
l) To identify students with disabilities who have won higher education programs during registration.
m) To ensure that the buildings and open spaces inside and outside the university campus are accessible to students with disabilities.
n) Students with disabilities have the right to request separate exams and help in exams according to their disability. The unit, for the use of this right; Makes and follows up the necessary cooperation with the faculty/institute/school/Vocational School responsible.
